Fire Station 31
In October 2019, the Seattle Fire Department, together with the Department of Facilities and Administrative Services (FAS) and the Mayor's Office, determined that the existing Fire Station 31 building at 1319 N. Northgate Way no longer met SFD's operational needs.
Following an extensive search process that included community input and considerations for criteria such as ability to meet service response times, size of property, safety, access to arterial roadways, etc., the City identified and approved a new location for the permanent station at 11302 Meridian Ave. N. The site is primarily vacant and highly suitable for SFD's operational and service area needs.
Background Materials
Together, SFD and FAS hosted a community open house in June 2022 to provide an update on the project.
The public meeting showed designs of the site, and gave the community a chance to learn about next steps and share input.

Additionally, in January 2022, the 30% project design update was presented in a virtual video format due to a surge of Omicron cases in the region during the time planned for an in-person open house.

Interim Fire Station 31
An interim site has also been identified and approved at 10503 Interlake Ave. N. This site was used by Fire Station 31 for interim operations in the past, meets the operational and response time needs for SFD, and began operations in October 2021.
